How to Install the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage Headset

  • This article provides information on how to install the SB Tactic3D Control Panel for the Tactic3D Rage headset under Windows and Mac systems.
  • If you have the USB version, connect the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage headset directly to a computer via the micro USB cable. (Refer to illustration)

    If you have the wireless version, connect the USB wireless transmitter to a computer’s USB port.

    Please make sure that Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage is detected in the Windows Device Manager or in the Mac System Preferences before software installation. If the detection fails, re-plug the device into another working USB port. At this stage, you can continue to pair the wireless version and also use it as a regular USB headset.


    For Windows

    This example shows the software installation for the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage USB version. It is also applicable to the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage Wireless.

    You can download the software from Creative’s Support site. After downloading, click on the file to begin the software self extraction.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Control Panel together with its custom drivers.






    Restart the PC to complete the installation.

    Please ensure that the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage is selected as the Windows default device for playback and recording before launching the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Control Panel.

    Ensure that the headset is not connected to a 3.5mm connector and microphone mute is not enabled on the headset. To hear your voice, click on Properties of the headset microphone and check on Listen to this device.

    For Windows 8, please use the keyboard Start key to access the default Home screen. You should see Desktop tile and Sound Blaster Tactic3D Control Panel tile.

    If you wish to browse all installed applications in Windows 8, right-clicking the mouse will bring out All apps icon at the lower right of the screen.

    Here is the view for browsing software applications under Windows 8. Windows Control Panel can be found.

    The common software utility like Device Manager and Sound can be obtained under the Control Panel.

    For Mac

    The following example shows the software installation for the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage Wireless. It is also applicable to the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage USB version.

    Download the software from Creative’s Support site. Unzip the file to extract the .dmg format.

    Open the .dmg file and run the Install file.

    Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Control Panel along with its custom drivers.




    Restart the Mac to complete the installation.

    Ensure that the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Rage is selected as the Mac’s default device for playback,


    and recording before launching the Sound Blaster Tactic3D Control Panel.
