Headset Microphone Working in Chat Applications but Not in Games

For instant messaging applications like, Windows Live Messenger, a microphone is always detected to allow video calls or conferencing.

  1. In other applications such as games, microphones may be deactivated or muted by preference or by default so as to allow uninterruptable gaming experience. Check if the microphone is set to mute in your game application

  2. Check forums or manuals for the games which you are currently playing for microphone settings.
