Summary:

  • Refer to this article for tips on how to improve you Creative player's FM radio reception.

You can use the AutoScan feature in the main menu to scan for available FM stations in your region. If you experience any difficulties with FM reception, please try the following procedures:

  • Download and install the latest firmware and driver at support.creative.com.
Refer to SID64507: Where Can I Download the Latest Creative Drivers/Applications? for steps on where and how can you download your player's firmware/driver.

  • Make sure that the headphone is connected securely to the headphone jack.

  • Some players (for example, ZEN Micro) supports both "International" and "Japan" FM broadcasts. The FM frequency range on your player is set to "international" by default. Most regions in the world receive FM broadcasts in this range.
  • International: 87.5 MHz ~ 108.0 MHz
    Japan: 76.0 MHz ~ 90.0 MHz

  • FM transmission works better when there is a clear line-of-sight in its transmission path. Try moving your player toward a more open area (such as toward a window or less enclosed area). Also try moving your player to a higher location, perhaps upstairs.

  • Make sure the headphone wire is running on the outside of clothing, not folded or otherwise shorten it.

  • The FM capable players use the ground line on the earbuds as an antenna. Therefore, if you are not using earbuds shipped with the player, ensure that the headphones you are using, have a ground line running the length of the cord.

  • Make sure your player is not near any radio transmitters or electrical devices as they may be a source of interference.
