Creative Live! Cam Detection on a Mac

  • Your Creative webcam is a USB Video Class (UVC) device. A UVC device is plug and play. There is no installation CD required.
  • A UVC device is a USB device class that describes devices capable of streaming video like webcams, digital camcorders, transcoders, analog video converters, television tuners, and still-image cameras.

Follow the steps below to verify if the Creative Live! Cam is installed and detected properly in Mac OS X:

  1. Power on your Mac.


  2. Once you've logged-in and have reached the desktop area, connect the Live! Cam to any available USB port.


  3. Click the Apple logo located at the top left of the screen.


  4. Select About This Mac. In this example, we are using a Mac OS X 10.10.2.


  5. Select System Report ....


  6. In the next window, look under Hardware section and select USB. You should see the camera's name and model number in the list.

    Note: The screenshot below is for Live! Cam Connect HD 1080.

Note:

  • Your Mac should automatically detect the camera. If the camera is not detected, connect it to another USB port.
  • For iChat/Facetime application, there is no configuration needed, as Mac will automatically configure and detect the camera.
