This download contains an improved version of the firmware originally found on your Creative MuVo® Slim. It improves FM radio support. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.

Enhancements:

• Improves FM radio support

Fixes:

• Reduces the occurrence of random popping sounds when you turn your player on or off
• Ensures that the Skip Folder option selects folders correctly
• Resolves the issue where audio tracks may not resume playback after you restart your player. This may occur when you switch to FM mode while playing audio tracks, and then restart your player.

Requirements:

• Microsoft® Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition
• USB 1.1 port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfers)
• Creative MuVo Slim

Notes:

• To install this upgrade
  1. Download the file into your local hard disk.
  2. Close all application and Windows Explorer windows that are currently running on your computer.
  3. Connect your player to your computer.
  4. Double-click the firmware update file and follow the instructions on the screen.

This upgrade improves the functionality of your Creative MuVo® Micro N200 player. For complete functionality, make sure that you meet the requirements listed below before installing this upgrade.

Enhancement:

• Supports Thai unicode character display

Fixes:

• Restores proper playback time display when you play large WMA files
• Reduces your player's startup time

Requirements:

• Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)
• Available USB port (version 1.1 or higher)
• Creative MuVo Micro N200 player
• For Windows 98 SE only: Creative MuVo drivers 1.04.00.250 available from the Installation CD or Creative Mass Storage drivers 1.07.00.250 available from the Internet.

Notes:

• This firmware upgrade only works with Creative MuVo Micro N200 players. Do not install this upgrade to other players.
• You will lose all content in your player when you install the firmware. Back up any audio or data files in your player to your computer before upgrading the firmware.
• To install this firmware upgrade, do the following:
1. Download the MuVoN200_PCFW_LF_1_20_04.exe file into your local hard disk.
2. Connect your player to your computer.
3. Double-click the firmware upgrade file.
4. When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
5. Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.
6. Continue to hold the Play button for about 10 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
7. Release the Play button when the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer screen.
8. Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
9. Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen.

Requirements:

• Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Me or Windows 98 SE
• Windows Media® Player 9
• Available USB port (version 1.1 or higher)
• Creative Zen Micro, Zen Sleek, Zen Touch or Zen Xtra with PlaysForSure firmware version 2.xx.xx

Notes:

• To check your player's firmware version number:
  1. Scroll Select System.
  2. Scroll Select Information.
     The firmware version number is displayed.
• Subscription services and playlist downloads are not supported
• You can only use Windows Media Player 9 to transfer audio files.
• To install this driver, do the following:
• 1. Download the file into your local hard disk.
  2. Double-click the driver file and follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. Connect the player to your computer.

This firmware update adds Audible® audio content support and improves the functionality of your PlaysForSure® enabled Zen™ Micro player.

It also adds PlaysForSure and Audible support to Zen Micro players currently without PlaysForSure firmware.

IMPORTANT:

• Be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Micro before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. After installing the firmware, use Windows Media® Player 10 to restore audio and/or data files to your player.
• This firmware will currently ONLY work on Windows XP or Windows XP Professional x64.
• Installation of this firmware may take up to 5 minutes, and your device may reboot a number of times during installation.
• Software updates are required if you want to use any currently installed applications like Creative MediaSource™, Zen Media Explorer, or other track management tools with your player.

Enhancements:

• Supports the playback of Audible Type 2, 3 and 4 tracks
  Important:
• To transfer Audible audio content, you must have AudibleManager® version 4.00 or later installed
• Improves battery life by reducing the Standby mode duration to 4 hours.
  Your player goes into Standby mode when either Sleep Timer or Idle Shutdown is enabled.
• Improves your player's compatibility with online music subscription services
• Adds Russian language support

Fix:

• Displays the "No tracks in Music Library" message properly when your player's language is not set to English

• Use future subscription-based online music services

PlaysForSure-enabled devices may:

• reduce the maximum number of media files because of additional memory requirements.

Notes:

• To install this firmware update, do the following:
1. Download the ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_L16_2_21_02.exe file into your local hard disk.
2. Connect the player to your computer.
3. Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen.
• If a dialog box appears, telling you that an application is interfering with the update process, do the following:
1. Launch Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer.
2. Click Tools -> Settings.
3. Click the Detector tab.
4. In the Device(s) to Detect window, make sure that the Enable Detector checkbox is not selected.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the firmware update again.
• To skip sections within an Audible track:
1. From the Now Playing screen, firmly tap the Vertical Touch Pad.
2. Move your thumb up and down the Vertical Touch Pad to select a section to skip to.
3. Firmly tap the Vertical Touch Pad to skip to the selected section.
• You can download AudibleManager from www.audible.com/software.

This firmware update enhances your Zen™ Touch player with PlaysForSure™ functionality.

PlaysForSure devices enable you to:

• Use subscription-based online music services
• Enjoy seamless support with any computer running Microsoft® Windows Media® Player 10 or 11 and Windows® XP - no drivers or software needed
• Use the drag-and-drop method to transfer songs or files to your player through Windows Explorer
• Use the Sync feature in Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to synchronize your player with your music library and playlists.

IMPORTANT:

• This firmware update permanently replaces your player's current firmware. Your player's firmware cannot be reverted to version 1.xx.xx once this update is installed.
• When upgrading the firmware, ONLY use computers running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) with Windows Media Player 10.
• Be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Touch before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. After installing the PlaysForSure firmware, use Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to restore audio and/or data files to your player.

Notes

• To check your player's firmware version number:
1. Press and hold the Power button to turn on your player (if necessary).
2. Select Settings -> About... in the main menu.
   The firmware version number is displayed under the Version heading.
• To check your Creative MediaSource version number:
1. Launch Creative MediaSource.
2. Click Help on the menu bar.
3. Select the About Creative MediaSource option.
   The version number is displayed in the dialog box that appears.
