This download contains an improved version of the firmware found on your ZEN™ Vision. It improves support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) enabled tracks. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.
Note: If your current firmware version is 1.40.03, the new firmware may require you to retransfer any existing DRM-enabled tracks back to your player. For more information, see "Notes" below.
Added features and enhancements
- Improves DRM-protected file transfer latency.
- Adds FM recording for players with firmware version 1.40.03.
- Ensures that audio files more than 18 hours long are transferred properly.
Fixes
- Ensures that the video aspect ratio is preserved in videos playing through the Video Out jack.
- Ensures proper playback of DRM-enabled tracks under certain usage scenarios.

- Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP (Service Pack 1 or later), or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 or later
- Windows Media® Player 10 or later
- USB 1.1 port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfers)
- Creative ZEN Vision
Notes
- To check your player's firmware version
- Turn on your player.
- From the main menu, select System -> Information.
The firmware version number is indicated next to Version.
- To install this firmware
- Download the file into your local hard disk.
- Close all applications and Windows Explorer windows that are currently running on your computer.
- Connect your player to your computer.
- Double-click the firmware file and follow the instructions on the screen.
- If your player's firmware version as checked above was 1.40.03, and there are playback issues with DRM-enabled tracks after installing this new firmware, launch the transfer software to delete and retransfer DRM-enabled tracks to your player.
