This download contains an improved version of the firmware found on your Creative ZEN® Nano Plus. It improves your player's compatibility with Microsoft® Windows Vista™. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.

Added Features or Enhancements:

• Adds FM recording (for players with firmware 1.13.03).

Fixes:

• Enables your player to detect downloaded audio tracks after your player is formatted using FAT32 (Windows Vista RC1 and above).

• Available USB port (version 1.1 or higher)

Notes:

• This firmware only works with Creative ZEN Nano Plus players. Do not install this firmware for other players.
• You will lose all content in your player when you install the firmware. Back up any audio or data files in your player to your computer before installing the firmware.
• To install this firmware:
  1. Download the ZENNanoPlus_PCFW_L16_1_14_03.exe file into your local hard disk.
  2. Make sure your player is connected to your computer.
  3. Double-click the downloaded file.
  4. If you are prompted to reset your player, click OK.
  5. If the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer screen, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard.
  6. When the firmware download dialog box appears, click Start and follow the instructions on the screen.

  1. Turn on your player.
  2. From the main menu, select System -> Information.
     The firmware version number is indicated next to Version.
• To install this firmware
  1. Download the file into your local hard disk.
  2. Close all applications and Windows Explorer windows that are currently running on your computer.
  3. Connect your player to your computer.
  4. Double-click the firmware file and follow the instructions on the screen.
• If your player's firmware version as checked above was 1.40.03, and there are playback issues with DRM-enabled tracks after installing this new firmware, launch the transfer software to delete and retransfer DRM-enabled tracks to your player.

Enhancements:

• Supports the playback of Audible Type 4 tracks.
  Important: to transfer Audible content, you must have AudibleManager® version 5 or later installed. AudibleManager allows you to download, burn, organize, transfer and hear Audible audio content. Download AudibleManager from www.audible.com/software.
• Adds the Volume Restriction feature, which allows you to restrict your player's maximum playback volume.
• Adds FM recording (for players with current firmware version 1.30.04)
• Provides better support for languages other than English
• Improves responsiveness of the player's onscreen interface.

• Optimizes photo thumbnail capability with Windows Media® Player 10 and 11.

Fixes:

• When you turn on your player after installing this firmware, the following will occur for the first time only:
  • The Rebuilding Library screen will appear.
  • Photos will take slightly longer than normal to appear.
• Should you reinstall an earlier firmware version after installing this firmware, you need to retransfer any existing photos back to your player.

Enhancement:

• Supports Audible playback.

Fix:

• Resolves the issue of your player (battery level full) turning off, while playing a 128 kbps DRM-protected WMA file.
